  • Archie R-V Dedicates New Gymnasium "The Thunderdome"

    (Archie, MO) January 20, 2012

After two years of grant writing, planning, design, and construction the new Archie Thunderdome is complete. In a ceremony prior to the start of the 82nd Annual Archie Basketball Tournament the district dedicated this new state of the art facility. Brian Foxworthy and Jason Lott with incite Design Studio along with the other team members involved in making this project a monumnetal success were recognized on the court. In addition to being a 1,100 seat gymnasium it also serves the entire community of Archie as a FEMA 361 tornado safe room. Together with Toth and associates, incite Design Studio secured nearly $1.1 million from FEMA to help construct the facility. The concrete monolithic dome structure will protect 1,300 patrons from an EF-5 tornado. It is one of the largest safe rooms in the state of Missouri.

The project was recently featured on KCTV5 News in Kansas City. To see this news article click on the link below. http://www.kctv5.com/story/16605708/schools-new-gym-also-serves-as-shelter-from-tornados
