ELEMENTARY SCHOOL REPLACEMENT
in early 2018, incite Design Studio was hired by the Excelsior Springs School District to complete a facilities master plan. The plan was completed and sets a logical course for district-wide improvements over the next ten to fifteen years. iDS is currently implementing plans for the district.
iDS is designing a new 4 section K-5 Cornerstone Elementary School to replace the old Westview Elementary School. The building will include a new music room, art room, gymnasium, cafeteria, media center, administrative office, and miscellaneous building and staff support areas such as a teacher work room, storage space, and toilet rooms. Additionally, one ICC-500 Tornado Storm Shelter gymnasium will hold faculty and student body during inclement weather.
Classroom spaces that are planned to be provided will include Core Learning Spaces – 26 total learning spaces with an ideal capacity of 582 students, and Special Education – 3 total learning (2 resource rooms and one life skills room), a counseling suite, and miscellaneous support facilities. The future-ready design will address the needs of future learners and will provide the flexibility to adapt to new advances in education techniques.
This project is scheduled to be completed for the start of the 2021/2022 school year.
