In April of 2014, patrons of the district passed a bond issue for an addition and renovations to the District’s only public school. (Pre-K to 12th grade).
This project for the Drexel R-IV school district is divided into three main components. The first area includes expansion to their primary gymnasium -additional square footage for bleachers and four auxiliary locker rooms.
The second component includes a new north entrance and a remodeled northwest entrance, an expanded commons, a kitchen, and a concession stand. The north entrance is new and connected to the commons to provide access to the gymnasium. The second entrance is renovated to become the primary entrance during school hours. It is a a secure entry point. The kitchen addition includes storage and preparation areas, serving lines, cashier space, and an office.
The third area renovates the existing kitchen area to include Superintendent’s administration offices, a small teacher’s lounge, and a classroom/ meeting room.
Along with these additions and renovations, the school district worked with iDS and our mechanical engineer to replace the school's existing HVAC system with a sizeable grant from KCP&L
The project will be ready for the districts use in phases. The first two components are to be complete by mid-May 2015 and the third component is scheduled to be complete before the 2015-2016 school year.
