In April of 2017, North Platte R-I School District passed a no tax increase bond issue to allow for the construction of a new junior high school as well as various renovations and improvements to other school buildings within the district.
The reconstruction of the junior high building includes new classroom space, an administrative area, a secured entrance, locker room and restroom upgrades and a new band room with storage. The old band room was re-purposed into a choir room. This project was completed in August 2018–just in time for the start of the school year.
Some of the miscellaneous high school improvements include façade upgrades and roof repairs or replacement, while the elementary school building improvements include foundation repairs, roof repairs or replacement, traffic flow upgrades, HVAC upgrades and potential additional lighting and finish upgrades. iDS is also looking to use grant money to increase energy efficiency to mechanical and lighting systems within the improvements and renovations.
