incite Design Studio collaborated with Excelsior Springs School District in 2019 to reimagine Elkhorn Elementary School, aligning it with forward-looking education goals. This comprehensive project included renovations and an addition to facilitate the transition from K-5 to PreK- 5, accommodating the evolving needs of this school. The addition featured specialized spaces for music and special education, alongside a strategically placed PreK classroom. A new entrance optimized security while still creating a sense or welcome. The original outdated interior classrooms were redesigned to embrace flexibility, with primary and secondary teaching walls, interactive projectors and adaptable storage.

The music room, acting as an ICC-500 Tornado Storm Shelter, was tailored for versatility and equipped with modern teaching tools. The structure received durable masonry exterior walls and advanced insulation for energy efficiency. Interior spaces were thoughtfully appointed with acoustic ceilings, while aesthetics were enhanced through resilient floor choices and ADA-compliant finishes. Safety was a paramount consideration, reflected in locking systems and storm shelter provisions. The Elkhorn Elementary School project epitomized incite Design Studio’s dedication to innovative educational environments, fostering growth and learning in the local community.
