The Morgan County School District approved the design and construction of a new Performing Arts Center. This approval came on the heels of the iDS team securing a sizable FEMA safe room grant for the district. The grant made the possibility of a first class performing arts center a reality.
The 600-seat performing arts center doubles as a FEMA 361 Safe Room during inclement weather. The PAC uses insulated precast concrete wall panels that are able to withstand an EF-5 tornado. In addition, the precast panels aid in implementing an efficient construction process. The theater includes top notch rigging and lighting, acoustical performance, as well as support spaces. The support spaces include a band room addition with practice rooms, dressing rooms, a green room, and work shop space. A box office and public restrooms are located off the new commons connector piece to serve the Performing Arts Center. The PAC is utilized on a daily basis, while also allowing the school to host district-wide testing and musical competitions.
This project concluded in late 2016. It is an invaluable addition for the Morgan County School District and surrounding community.
