This mixed-use development, adjacent to the University of Kansas, is an ideal example of “New Urbanism”. Located in the Oread Neighborhood on the edge of campus, the development serves as a gateway between the City of Lawrence and the University of Kansas. The building contains two levels of parking under the first level of inner-neighborhood commercial space. Above the commercial level there are four floors of lofts totaling 15 living units. The upper level of lofts consists of five two story units with a roof top terrace. Private balconies from all units offer the residents unbelievable views of campus and the surrounding City of Lawrence.
In addition to being the architects, this was our first opportunity to act as the developers of a project. Unfortunately the time and expenses of getting this project approved by the City of Lawrence became too costly and the investors opted to sell the property.
