PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, FEMA SAFE ROOM & EUGENE FIELD ELEMENTARY CAFETERIA RENOVATIONS

iDS was hired by the Maryville R-II School District to assist them with the design of significant additions to Maryville High School and Eugene Field Elementary School. In addition to the design, iDS spearheaded the successful bond campaign which was approved by the voters in April of 2014.

The additions to the Maryville High School include a new performing arts center, pre-function space, and a new practice gymnasium. The theater will contain 700 seats for performances, a full fly space, multiple catwalks, top notch rigging and lighting, as well as support spaces, including a green room and workshop space.

At Eugene Field Elementary, a new kitchen and commons space for the children will double the seating capacity at each lunch period. This increase in capacity will reduce the amount of lunch shifts needed, allowing the students to eat meals at more opportune times.

Most recently, the school district was awarded a FEMA Safe Room Grant. The 7,800 sf FEMA Safe Room is constructed of precast concrete wall and roof panels, with a sub-use as an auxiliary gymnasium.

At Eugene Field Elementary, a new kitchen and commons space for the children doubles the seating capacity at each lunch period. This increase in capacity reduces the amount of lunch shifts needed, allowing the student to eat meals at more opportune times. The glass wall construction of the commons floods the area with natural light which will re-energize the students before returning to class.

The kitchen provides improved traffic flow from the original kitchen. All new appliances and refrigeration gives the food service employees the long lasting tools they need to prepare the daily meals.

This project was completed in the Summer of 2016.
