incite Design Studio partnered with Perry County School District #32 to design the brand-new Perry County Middle School. This 55,868 square foot facility accommodates grades 6-8, seamlessly blending core classrooms with specialized electives like music, family and consumer sciences, and art.

Central to the design is a 20,433 square foot FEMA Safe Room, ensuring the safety of both middle and high school populations during emergencies. The middle school features a main level with classrooms, administrative areas, and a media center, along with storm shelter access. The upper-level houses additional classrooms and secondary shelter access. The overall design focuses on flexible spaces for students and educators encouraging collaborative learning at each grade level.

Despite challenges with needing to rework construction phases in order to align with the FEMA grant schedules, our team navigated these changes seamlessly in order to keep the project on schedule. Divided into three phases—FEMA addition, core middle school construction, and parking infrastructure—each aspect was meticulously executed to meet evolving needs. The FEMA addition houses crucial amenities such as choir, band and special education sections.

The Perry County Middle School is a true example of collaborative innovation and unwavering commitment to excellence for learning environments – a true testament to the District’s dedication to students and the community.
