As the architects and project managers for Shady Brook Village, we embraced the opportunity to expand our design styles. The ten-acre private mountain village is located between Taos and Angelfire, New Mexico. Ten existing structures, all of varying size and purpose, were in need of renovations.
The existing structures include a large home and adjacent out-building, a cafe with private living quarters, six individual cabins, and a two-story, six-room motel. We incorporated a southwest style to the large home and highlighted its unique features, including breathtaking mountain views, a gourmet kitchen, and a spa-quality master bedroom suite. The individual cabins have been restored into two-story loft-style condominiums. Work on the six-room motel was completed in the fall of 2009. The renovated motel and motel now features three luxurious two-story condominiums. Renovations to the café are currently underway.
In addition to the renovations on the existing village, iDS designed a second phase of condominiums that integrate the mountain setting.
