2022 BOND PROJECTS | ADDITIONS & RENOVATIONS

Location: WEBB CITY R-VII School DistricT

SIZE: 9,800 sf New Construction; renovation: 5,300 sf

COST: $9,000,000

In April 2022, the district passed a bond issue with the assistance of incite Design Studio’s community engagement efforts. A large portion of the bond issue dollars were slated to go towards renovations and additions to Webb City High School.

A 19,000 SF building addition to the existing high school included a FACS lab and support spaces, two Science labs and support spaces, one standard-size classroom, a Learning Lab, Faculty Room, gender-neutral restrooms and various building support spaces. Additionally, the project created a naturally lit corridor to connect the entry to the existing natatorium to the rest of the building. The new entry piece celebrates that entry, with a pop of color and graphic.

The Learning Lab was envisioned to be an informal and flexible gathering space, entirely open to the main hallway on the west. It can be used for a variety of learning activities – as a break-out space for small groups, for individual task-oriented learning and for less-formal student or staff collaboration and lounging. Directly adjacent to the Learning Lab are two small “Think Tank” spaces, for more focused small-group work or meetings. These spaces have windows onto the Learning Lab, to increase supervision and visual connection. Further within the Learning Lab is a standard-sized classroom, for use by virtual-learners as needed, and available as a flexible space for more formal class gatherings.

incite Design Studio has collaborated with the district since 2013, starting with the Webb City FEMA Safe Room Dome at the high school. Since then, iDS completed the FEMA Safe Room at Carterville Elementary, stadium upgrades to Cardinal Stadium, and an admin suite renovation.
